Architecture, engineering, construction, owners and operators impact cities, regions and the world. Yet too often, public policy, inertia, status quo, contracts and social issues limit our influence. More than ever the AECOO industry must synthesize data while creating solutions that make the built world inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable. No single organization or technology has the solution. However, the AECOO industry as a collaborative platform yields value. 

BIMStorm started in 2008 as global events to encourage hands on collaboration in an open sandbox for architects, engineers, builders, owners, operators and the public. The objective was to break down closed systems and the status quo to change the industry.

The focus started with Building Information Modeling (BIM) and  quickly expanded to Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and location to BIM and are connected through multiple platforms to produce results that are then being applied to real world projects. 

In August 2018 BIMStorm participated at the Chicago Voice of Blockchain Conference. BIMStorm continues to expand to new frontiers at the Seoul Global Engineering Tech Forum, demonstrating these processes on capital projects. This session will explore how to track return on investment and be able to evaluate outcomes on a constant basis. Good data and that is accessible is key and platforms are coming together to make this happen.

At the Seoul conference, case studies will demonstrate opportunities for attendees. Exercises centered around single projects and urban scale scenarios will let participants discover novel processes that connect the built environment. By building on existing technologies and processes, the AECOO industry can be the linchpin of relevance; generating new value for clients and our profession.
