Data Independence and The Lifecycle

In BIMStorm Data Independence, we expanded beyond the planning and preliminary design of a facility. We explored how the facility life cycle would be supported through better access to information using the kinds of principles established by SEPS2BIM. This new generation of tools and processes allows for rapid collaborations between many subject matter experts in the building industry.

Owners provided access to their program requirements and facility data used by BIMStorm.

The Department of Defense, Defense Health Agency and Department of Veterans Affairs have in one bold move shared through SEPS2BIM their program requirement database to be accessible and linked to through open APIs. BIMStorm Data Independence will be using this great resource for planning scenarios and to expose the industry to how this can change planning and design to BIM forever.

Solano Community Colleges is one of the 72 districts in the California Community Colleges that is linked live the FUSION CCC GIS ONUMA System. Actual project data from their campus was used in live planning scenarios for new construction, renovation and planning in the BIMStorm.

AEC Industry

The AEC Industry used owner program requirements for planning, designing, and construction to delivery
of data back to owners.

App Developers

App developers used the data made available
by owners and the AEC industry
as web services and connected their solutions.
